PhD Workshop

We invite you to the PhD Workshop, which will take place on 27 May 2026 as part of the international scientific congress Tourism & Hospitality Industry Congress 2026.

The workshop is intended for PhD students, early career researchers, and experienced scholars.

The workshop will be delivered by Sara Dolnicar, an internationally recognised scholar whose work focuses on tourism research methodology, sustainable tourism, and social marketing.

This interactive workshop will address key challenges researchers face when developing and publishing academic work. Participants will gain practical guidance on how to move from an initial research idea to a high-quality academic publication.

Topics covered during the workshop include:

  • how to come up with a good research question
  • how to identify the best research design
  • how to write a high-quality academic paper
  • how to avoid desk rejection from journals
  • how to effectively respond to reviewers
  • how to ensure that your research has real academic and societal impact

The workshop will also include a research pitch session, during which participants will have the opportunity to briefly present their research ideas and receive feedback from Prof. Dolnicar and other participants.

NOTE: Doctoral students who successfully complete the task assigned as part of the PhD workshop can receive 5 ECTS credits, that will be recognised as part of the scientific, teaching and professional activities within their doctoral programme.
